God's Promises #3

"So if the Son, sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36

Oh how well we know that voice of condemnation! He speaks to us every hour of every day. His finger points out all our sins and all our shortcomings. He continually tells us we've fallen too far. That there is no point in trying anymore because we will never hit the mark.

This is a sweet sweet promise that comes from the cross. When we sin, there will be consequences, but we are so blessed to have conviction and repentance available to us as well. Often condemnation disguises itself as conviction. And in our grief and shame it can be hard to tell one from the other. But condemnation will always focus on your sins. Conviction recognizes your sins, but focuses on the cross, because there can be no repentance without it. Conviction points us to this dear promise that we are freed indeed, while condemnation holds us in the chains of guilt forever.

This is, perhaps, the dearest of all promises. Jesus tells you. Yes, YOU, that when You are freed by Him, you are freed indeed.

I've chosen this picture of my dear friend who is always so full of joy and life, because she is free indeed.
