Stretched from Sky to Sky

I've been thinking and praying a lot lately about purpose, and calling, and meaning. And while I wish after all this time, that I could tell you I know exactly what I'm supposed to do with my life, I can't yet. But through all the struggle one thing I know. God is Love. It's an all encompassing love, a love that pales any we know in this world. Anything we think we know about it is just a drop in the ocean of God's love. If I tried to write of His love to me, I'd never finish telling or writing nor could I put it more eloquently than thousands before me have. His faithfulness to me astounds and humbles me when He grants me the beginning of understanding. And when I open my mouth to tell Him how much I love Him in return, I shut it again in shame at my own lack of understanding of the word. I cannot adequately describe how great His love is, for far better writers than I have tried. And while many I hold dear, this particular hymn has always seemed as close to reality as man can achieve.

"The love of God is greater far, than tongue or pen can ever tell.
It goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His son to live.
His erring child, He reconciled and pardoned from his sin.

Could we with ink the ocean fill, and were the skies of parchment made.
Were every stalk on earth a quill, and every man a scribe by trade.
To write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, though stretched from sky to sky."
