Promises
Hello Friends,
It's been a long while. I've missed writing here over the past six months and I'm determined to remain far more consistent in the upcoming months.
That said, I'm going to begin a series on God's promises. I've been thinking about them much lately and I hope that you will benefit from and be blessed by what He's shown me.
Promises #1
"Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ will suffer persecution." 2 Timothy 3:12
I know what you're thinking. Not this again. Bear your trials joyfully. Easy to say when your not going through it but a different matter when it's your life.
Perhaps I'll write on that topic another time, but I'm not here to tell you to go through affliction cheerfully. I want to tell you today that you will bear persecution. You will bear it from friends, from coworkers, from family. This verse is a promise. Albeit we often deem it an unpleasant one.
But the beautiful part of this verse is that it comes with a condition. It depends on the fact that you "desire to live godly in Christ." So, my friend, if you are under persecution, take heart and be encouraged. Be comforted that you are indeed on the right path. Whatever you have been through and whatever may come next, remember that it is not because you are not good enough.
I know all too well the words the Devil whispers when you are discouraged. It's your fault. You're not a good Christian. If your were a "good Christian" you would have a better relationship with your family or your friends. You must be doing something wrong!
I tell you today, that all who desire to live godly in Christ will suffer persecution.
